Tour de Farce 2002
Note 3
I started at the Royal Lodge motel in Hope on OLD highway 3 (42 meters or 138 feet) and cycled to Alison pass (Distance: 57.73 km Time: 3:06:01 Average: 18.1) at 1342 meters of 4403 feet. This resulted in an elevation gain of 4267 feet. I then cycled down to Mcdermid Meadows 1025 meters or 3363 feet and up to Sunday Summit (Distance: 100.14 km Time: 4:43:22 Average: 21.53 km) to 1283 meters or 4210 feet or an elevation gain of 847 feet. The total on paper elevation gain was 5114 feet. There were about three more hills with a difference of at least 500 feet giving a total guesstimated elevation gain of 5614 feet. This was still the toughest stage of my tour, as indicated by the average KM/hour. I stopped at the Princeton RV Campground about 2 KM east of Princeton (a left turn off Highway 3). I used my cousin's accumulating altimeter value for the total elevation gain instead of my guesstimate. |
