There are many memories of Lisa I will cherish:

Memories like:

1. Learning how to play the piano around the same age.

  • Remember how Uncle Hal encouraged us through friendly competition to learn Fur Elise
  • How he also motivated us to learn how to play the Music Box dancer, our first duet together

OR

2. Taking a math class together with Auntie Marie

  • I remember how Auntie Marie was extra strict with Lisa to make sure there was no favoring

OR

3. Taking a biking trip to Thetis Island with Mr. Adam and Michelle & Sonya

  • Remember huffing and puffing while I watched Lisa and her two sisters zip by.  You see, as kids we competed on every subject except PE

But these are not what I remember most:

My greatest memories of Lisa revolve around her being a daughter loved deeply by her father

I have vivid recollections of the:

  • Joyful times spent in the outdoors (hiking, biking)
  • The long walks they would take where they would have deep on honest conversations.
  • I even remember the times of discipline - when Uncle Hal would deploy his much feared "neck grip"

My deepest recollections are of a father who loved his daughter with an unabandonned, truth-filled love - through the good and bad times.

I believe this is what has helped Lisa cultivate her capacity to understand her heavenly Father's love for her.

The truth of the situation is, no parent should ever have to experience his child passing away.

I am reminded by our heavenly Father who not only watched but sent his son to die so that we could be reconciled with Him.

So that evil would not have the last word;

So that the grief we feel today would not be the end.

I am comforted by the fact that I know I will meet our dear sister Lisa once again and that our story does not end here.

But that it would be brought to completion on the other side of life.
I want to end by reading to you : 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
